· Stock Challenge Andrew Campos Sponsored by W. Rogers
This year the Pre-Algebra students did a more intensive study of the industries, which drive the stock market. In selecting their stocks for their imaginary $10,000 investment, they chose three companies from timely industries and then narrowed their choices down to one company, which showed the best fundamentals in management and financial strength. These included Oil and Natural Gas Production, Coal, Internet, Diversified Chemicals, Health Technology, Blackberry Wireless Technology, and Retail.
It was active 5 months with 4 companies registering splits, and definitely a BULL market. Eighth out of eleven companies profited.
This years winner closed with a net return on investment of 33% on shares of Southwest Energy. The company was contacted and was very helpful in sending media for his stock study.
