Yearbook Staff - ( Faculty Advisor:  Gretchen Horlbeck)

Students in the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade have the option to participate in the production of the Thomas Hart yearbook.  The students take pictures, format page layouts, produce captions and type text.  Serious hard working students should apply.  It is loads of work, but lots of fun.

Spelling Bee   ( Faculty Advisor:  Jocelyn Sanderson)
Thomas Hart Academy participates in the SCISA Spelling Bee.  Each year, grades 3 through 8 sends two students to represent their grade.

SCISA Regional Spelling Bee was held at Robert E. Lee Academy on January 11, 2008. Thomas Hart sent 11 students to participate this year. Avery Jenner and Nicholas Shannon represented the 3rd Grade. They both showed confidence and great skill as they were presented with some very challenging words. Anna Crickman and Maitland Weaver represented the 4th grade. They both excelled as they competed with students from 8 other schools. Anna placed fourth in her division. Erin Kelley and Nathan Pignone were the 5th grade representatives. They just showed what great spellers they really are with Erin placing 6th and Nathan taking 1st place! Matthew Kirven and CJ Waldron were there to represent the 6th grade. They were great competitors and once again proved that THA has great students. Our only 7th grader this year was Sydney Gardner. However, she made us all proud with her 5th place finish. Our 8th Grade representatives were Carrie Brown and George Atkins. They were also great competitors among a group of excellent spellers from other schools. Congratulations to all of our participants! Job well done!
Nathan Pignone will represent Thomas Hart at the SCISA State Spelling Bee on February 20, 2008 at Williamsburg Academy. GOOOOOOO Nathan!
