At Thomas Hart Academy we aim to provide an academically challenging education in a warm, supportive environment to average and above average students with a wide range of talents and skills. Our program offers students the opportunity to learn, create, experience, and gain confidence while being challenged by a strong academic program and participating in a number of co-curricular offerings. We look at our students as individuals with differing talents, interests, and personalities, and as such, we understand the necessity of using a variety of approaches and strategies.
Thomas Hart is also a Latin based school. We offer a progressive Latin curriculum to our 1st through 8th grade students. Having a Latin background not only sets our students apart when they apply to high school magnet programs but also helps them when they begin to study foreign languages. The students quickly make connections and realize how much Latin helps them in understanding inflected languages. Our middle school students participate in the National Latin Exam and the National Mythology Exams and we always have students who receive awards for their performances.
Through our new SCISA STEAM accreditation we offer STEAM classes. We provide an integration of science, math, engineering, technology, and arts throughout the curriculum at THA in grades 5K-8th grade.
We offer ninety minutes daily of English instruction in grades 1st-5th and high school credit for English in grade 8.
At THA, we believe that education in the arts is an integral part of the development of each child. We are lucky to have highly trained arts faculty that instills the love of music, dance, drama, and studio art. The arts discipline promotes growth across all areas of our school, including academic, social, and emotional well being.
